OREANDA-NEWS. January 22, 2014. This was what Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova briefed to journalists when commenting on the recent drastic change in the weather.

Closely watching the weather conditions, the Agriculture Ministry expects the weather forecasts to come true and snow to protect vineyards and winter crops from low temperatures.

According to him, losses in agriculture have always been, caused by heavy rains, light frosts and droughts. This year, he said, farmers of Moldova have avoided significant losses and winter crops have mostly survived the bad weather.

Although some trees have turned green due to the unusually high winter temperature, this is rather a common situation. However, if the snow meteorologists have promised does not fall and low temperatures keep, the vineyards and winter crops will be nipped by the frost.
