OREANDA-NEWS. January 23, 2014. The Federal Passenger Company, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, will be laying on additional long-distance trains to Adler for the duration of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

From 25 January to 25 February 2014, the 11 additional trains the Federal Passenger Company has assigned will make 56 runs to Adler, departing from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ufa, Samara and Chelyabinsk.

As of 20 January 2014, 346 runs have been scheduled to Adler. In addition, from 6 to 22 February 2014, train number 604/603 Krasnodar - Adler will run as a local daily shuttle service between the two towns.

Two reserve trains are also available in the event that passenger demand exceeds forecasts.

Maximum passenger arrivals at Adler from other Russian regions are expected on 6 and 12 February 2014, with maximum departures due on 16 and 24 February.

In preparation for transporting visitors to and participants in the XXII Winter Olympic Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, some 2,600 conductors have received additional training. About 300 of these conductors will serve in the double-decker carriages on the Moscow - Adler passenger train.

Since 1 November 2013, branded double-decker train number 104/103 has been operating between Moscow - Adler and has transported nearly 100,000 passengers, which is 44 % more than during the same period in 2012-2013 when only single-decker carriages were in use.
