OREANDA-NEWS. Toyo Tire & Rubber Co., Ltd. announces that Malaysian tire manufacturing and sales subsidiary Toyo Tyre Malaysia Sdn Bhd has launched a scholarship program as part of the company's social contribution activities in Malaysia.

TTM, which opened new plant in May 2013, established the scholarship program having positioned "support of developing the human resources in Malaysia who will lead the next generation" as a priority area for contributing to the local society. The scholarship program was set up by TTM to provide support to highly motivated students who are essential for economic growth in Perak, Malaysia, where TTM is located.

The scholarship program will offer two types of scholarships: an "Undergraduate Scholarship Program" that supports high-achieving college students; and a "Student Education Assistance Program" that will provide assistance to young children attending elementary school. The first presentation ceremony was held on January 17.

At the presentation ceremony, TTM president Kanji Kasai presented the awards while encouraging the young scholars to "develop into knowledgeable human beings who will contribute to the future of Malaysia." The ceremony was attended by 80 local elementary school officials and other involved parties, and government officials praised the program and offered encouragement to the scholarship awardees.
