OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has summed up its technical development results over 2013. The company has increased the number of base stations by 10%. Over the period, the Tele2 Russia network covered new territories with population over 800 thou people.
In 2013, Tele2 focused on rolling out its network along Russia’s major highways. The Tele2 network is now covering 11 thousand kilometer long federal-aid thoroughfares. Thus, coverage of highways in Tele2-penetrated regions totals 94%.
Tele2 also activated Tandem Free Operation (TFO) in 37 out of 42 regions penetrated by the company. A new option let considerably improve voice calls on the network.
Over the year, Tele2 Russia carried out works to increase the network’s capacity in all regions of the company’s operations. The company improved the network quality in Admiralteyskiy, Vasileostrovskiy, Primorskiy, Nevskiy and Moskovskiy districts of St. Petersburg. Tele2 services became available at the Admiralteyskaya, Bukharestskaya and Mezhdunarodnaya underground stations. Subscribers can use high-quality and affordable mobile services at all St Petersburg underground stations.
Tele2 continued developing mobile network in the Far East. In 2013, the company started providing services in all districts of the Jewish Autonomous Region, on Sakhalin and in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy.
Tele2 improved the quality of connections and expanded coverage at popular resorts, including Lake Seliger and the Black Sea coast. The operator carried out works to increase Olympic facilities coverage in Sochi.
The company provided stable connections at the territory of popular resorts in Arkhangelsk Region: at the ski report in Krasnaya Gorka, in the Krasnogorskiy Virgin Monastery and at the Holy Fountainhead. Tele2 held technical works in the resort area in Zelenograd district of Kaliningrad Region, including the villages of Krasnotorovka and Kulikovo, the towns of Yantarniy, Pionerskiy and others.
Tele2 construction works involved not only large regional centres but also remote villages where mobile services are socially important. For instance, Tele2 rolled out its network in the village of Selektsionniy in Beloglinskiy district of the Krasnodar Territory. Its population totals only 500 people that now have an opportunity not only talk to their families and friends but also call emergency services if necessary.
In 2013 the company implemented a number of interesting technical projects. In Nizhniy Novgorod Region, Tele2 set up around 170 WiFi free access points in partnership with Dom.ru operator in most popular and visited places, high schools, business centres, shopping centres, cafes and cinemas.
