OREANDA-NEWS. The Government of Belarus adopted a resolution on December 31 to inform farmers about crop production targets for 2014.

According to the resolution, next year's grain output is expected at 9 million tonnes, potatoes - 1.604 million tonnes, sugar beet - 4.7 million tonnes, rotted straw - 170,000 tonnes, colza seeds - 1.019 tonnes, vegetables - 518,000 tonnes, fruits and berries- 140,000 tonnes, grass fodder for farm cattle - 8.322 million tonnes of fodder units, forage grain - 8.024 million tonnes.

At the same time, agencies concerned are expected to produce and apply 1.962 million tonnes of mineral fertilizers, including nitrogen fertilizer - 766,600 tonnes, phosphorous fertilizer - 338,800 tonnes, potash fertilizer - 847,000 tonnes.

It will take Br13.625 trillion (USD 1.428 bn) to procure mineral fertilizers and another Br2.673 trillion (USD 280.22m) to procure chemical weed and pest killers.

At the same time, the government has undertaken to supply farmers in 2014 with 191,100 tonnes of diesel fuel, 13,600 tonnes of automotive petrol, 7,800 tonnes of engine. Fuel supplies will be funded in the amount of Br2.5 trillion (USD 262.054 million).

Furthermore, to get farming machinery up and ready for field operations, the government has earmarked Br2.451trillion (USD 256.97 m) to procure complete parts and cover service and maintenance expenditures.

Belarusian farms will be provided with credit resources denominated in Belarusian rubles and foreign currency.
