OREANDA-NEWS. JSC RusHydro (ticker symbol: MOEX, LSE: HYDR; OTCQX: RSHYY) announces that its subsidiary RAO ES of East has selected general contractor for construction of the first stage of the Yakutskaya TPP No.2. JSC TEK Mosenergo (Teploenergeticheskaya kompanya Mosenergo) has won the tender for selection of the general contractor. Other contenders were JSC GlobalElectroService and JSC VO Technopromexport.

In the second round of the tender the winner's price was RUR 17.381 bn, against the initial (maximum) price of the tender of RUR 19.687 bn. Before end of February the contract with the contractor will be signed. It is planned that the construction and equipment installation works will start in April 2014.

The new power plant will be built in permafrost zone: no projects of the kind have been implemented in the Russian Far East since the 80s. The construction site is located outside the town of Yakutsk near gas-distribution station. Such location ensures reliability of fuel supply. The new plant will enable to partially replace obsolete inefficient and ecologically unfriendly boilers.

The Yakutskaya TPP No.2 (the 1st stage) is one of four projects is one of the four projects on construction of new generating facilities in the Far East of Russia, included in the Investment program of RusHydro, implemented together with RAO ES of the East. Installed electric capacity of the plant will be 170 MW, installed thermal capacity- 460 Gcal/h. Project is planned to be completed in 2015. CJSC Yakutskaya TPP-2 (wholly owned by RusHydro) acts as customer for construction. RAO ES of East, subsidiary of RusHydro, is carrying out comprehensive management of all special purpose subsidiaries of RusHydro, incorporated for construction of thermal power plants in the Far East.
