Tata Elxsi, India's leading design company, today announced its association with GVK group for Mumbai airport's new integrated terminal, terminal 2 (T2), at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA). Tata Elxsi was responsible for designing the experiential services for the various consumer touch points at T2 which aims to redefine the passenger experience while enhancing efficiencies and productivity for the airport staff at T2.

GVK has built the new integrated terminal 2 as an iconic mega structure that will set global benchmarks in airport infrastructure development. It features a highly compact design with the ability to service 40 million passengers annually. Tata Elxsi ensured that the overall design was aligned to reflect GVK's vision to make CSIA one of the world's best airports that consistently delights consumers and be the pride of Mumbai and India.

At T2, Tata Elxsi has designed entertainment zones, customer service zones, and general and lifestyle seating areas, from the security zone through to boarding gates. Other elements included designing pay / help phones, charging stations, ATM vending machine housing and internet workstations / kiosks amongst others. The design is in line with GVK's vision to build T2 as a distinctly unique terminal while adhering to international standards, ensuring sustainability, reflecting elegance and improving the overall experience by providing convenience and comfort.

GVK's new integrated, state-of-the-art terminal 2 at CSIA was inaugurated on January 10, 2014, by the Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh. The new T2, built in 4 years, is an iconic global mega structure and India's first and most advanced vertical passenger terminal that integrates world-class design, architecture, infrastructure and operational efficiency, with a rich infusion of Indian heritage and cultural character.
