OREANDA-NEWS. Moscow Domodedovo Airport has introduced advanced technologies of making customs payments upon cargo receipt. They help save time and make customs control quicker and more convenient.

A duty or a penalty charged by customs officers can now be paid via a dedicated terminal installed in the cargo terminal of Domodedovo Airport. One can use the advanced customs duty payment technology at Domodedovo when receiving unattended luggage or goods delivered by an air carrier. Payments in cash and by bank cards are accepted.

Introduction of the innovative technologies was facilitated by Domodedovo Cargo and Domodedovo Customs' participation in a pilot project of electronic payment systems. Besides the new service, the former system of customs payments is maintained: individuals are able to pay duties or penalties or pay for interest on their debt through any bank, by filling in the appropriate forms and waiting for the conformation of cash crediting to the said account, which is rather time-consuming. When a dedicated payment terminal is used money is credited immediately and there is no waiting time. Documents printed by the device upon payment serve as payment confirmation upon cargo receipt.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest air hub in Russia, and in 2013, its total passenger traffic amounted 30.76 million people. It falls into the category of the largest airports in Europe and is among the top three fastest growing airports in Europe according to the ACI Europe classification. Since 2009, it has been holding the title of the best airport in Eastern Europe as rated by Skytrax. Domodedovo is the base airport in Moscow for member airlines of the largest global airline alliances - Star Alliance and oneworld.
