OREANDA-NEWS. January 29, 2014. Moscow. MegaFon clients can now use high-speed data transmission services in 4G in international roaming. The first countries to launch the service were Switzerland and South Korea.

“MegaFon subscribers have become accustomed to high-speed 4G mobile internet both at home and when travelling around Russia. Today, thanks to agreements signed with international communication service providers, we open high-speed data transmission roaming services in South Korea and Switzerland - says Mikhail Dubin, MegaFon's executive director for mass market business development. - We are planning to increase the number of countries with 4G roaming in the nearest future”.

The 4G network will become available to clients automatically when crossing the border. To use the high-speed mobile internet in South Korea and Switzerland, the user's smartphone should have Data roaming and 4G mode settings turned on.

Communication service tariffs will be applied according to MegaFon's roaming tariff for the country of stay. The price of 1 Mb in 4G and 3G networks in roaming is the same, which allows MegaFon clients to enjoy higher speeds for the same money. More details about mobile internet roaming tariff plans can be found on the operator's official website.

From June 2013, MegaFon subscribers were able to use 4G high-speed mobile internet when travelling around Russia. Today, 50 regions now have 4G access, which means that 4G services from MegaFon can be used by every third citizen of the country. 4G internet from MegaFon is available in 11 cities with populations over one million, 15 cities with a population from 500 thousand to 1 mln inhabitants and in over 150 smaller towns.
