OREANDA-NEWS. February 05, 2014. Vice Prime Minister Olexandr Vilkul and newly appointed president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine Bernard Casey discussed the possible cooperation in transport, construction, tourism, energy saving technology.

"In recent years, the Government secured the adoption of a number of policy documents relating to, including the development of the transport sector. In particular, the Strategy of development of sea ports of Ukraine up to 2038. The State target economic program of roads development up to 2018 was also addopted last year," Olexandr Vilkul said.

He noted that the Government also approved the Conception of the airport development state program up to 2023.

An important step in deepening Ukrainian-American cooperation was getting by Ukraine last autumn of the first category of security of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Thank to this restrictions on flights Ukrainian air carriers to the United States were lifted.

Adopting a Concept of tourism development up to 2022 also opens up new opportunities to attract U.S. investment in Ukraine.

"We hope that the American Chamber of Commerce, in addition to traditional support of American companies and investors in Ukraine, will pay more attention to the promotion of Ukrainian companies to the U.S. market," Olexandr Vilkul said.

The meeting was also attended by the previous president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine Jorge Zukoski, who said: "we realized a lot of joint projects. I want to personally thank Mr. Vice Prime Minister Olexandr Vilkul. You and your team are very good partners of the American Chamber of Commerce. I'm confident in further effective cooperation."

"My goal is to continue implementation of the agenda, which began to implement Jorge Zukoski and create new opportunities for foreign business in Ukraine. Among the strategic areas are: IT, space, agriculture, energy, aviation. My task is to draw in Ukraine as more foreign companies to manufacture products for the domestic and foreign markets, including to China,” the newly appointed president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine Bernard Casey said.

O. Vilkul said that for its part the Government continues the work on the simplification of doing business in our country.

Housing and utilities sector, including introducing energy-saving technologies is also interesting for investors.

At present Ukrainian government continues to work with international financial institutions (World Bank, European Investment Bank, and others) in the sphere of upgrading housing and communal services. We are implementing 4 major projects worth more than UAH 3 billion. Preparations for implementation of other 5 projects worth nearly 10 billion USD are carried out.
