OREANDA-NEWS. February 07, 2014. Kaliningrad regional custom servicewill obtain two Ka-32 helicopters, planned to be used for patrolling the separate sectors of Russia-Poland and Russia-Lithuania borders as soon as this autumn, as reported by the representative of Kaliningrad regional custom service Nataliya Kadantseva.

“The helicopters are required for implementation of preventive measures against smuggling. There are several separate hardly accessible areas along Russia-Poland and Russia-Lithuania borders, more suitable to be patrolled fr om the air. These areas are the exact places wh ere some people attempt smuggling cigarettes and other goods to the countries of the European Union,” – the interviewee explained to the news agency.

The helicopters are under repair and maintenance now. Regional custom service informed that except of helicopters custom service is also equipped with its own fleet of ships, used for patrolling the territorial waters of the Russian Federation.
