OREANDA-NEWS. February 11, 2014. The Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service in the Rostov Region (Rostov OFAS Russia) found that “Aeroflot” OJSC violated the antimonopoly law fixing airfares (Part 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition”).

Earlier, Rostov OFAS Russia investigated a complaint that “Aeroflot” OJSC unreasonably fixed fares for passenger air transportation on Rostov-on-Don – Moscow – Rostov-on-Don route.
The following economy fares are fixed for Rostov-on-Don – Moscow route: TPXOWRF (5,650 RUB), KEXOWRF (11,000 RUB) and UEXOWRF (12,650 RUB).

The fare conditions are identical, except the maximum period of staying at the point of destination: 175 days for TPXOWRF fare, and for KEXOWRF and UEXOWRF fares – 355 and 360 days accordingly.

In the course of the investigation, “Aeroflot” OJSC was unable to give economic justification as to how an increased period of passenger staying at the point of destination can increase the flight costs over than twofold (from 5650 RUB to 12650 RUB).

“OFAS pronounced that fixing different prices for air travel depending only on the maximum period of staying at the point of destination violated Clause 6 Part 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition”, and already issued a determination to “Aeroflot” to eliminate the violation”, commented Deputy Head of Rostov OFAS Russia, Natalia Kozhemyako.
