OREANDA-NEWS. In January 2014, the Infrastructure Logistics Centres (ILCs) in Denderleeuw and Ans achieved ISO 14001 certification. This certificate is official recognition of all our efforts in the area of environmental protection.

ISO 14001 is an international standard for environmental protection. The main aspects of the environmental protection system are:

the level of compliance with environmental legislation,

analysis and management of environmental risks,

reduction of the impact of Infrabel's activities on the environment,

and continuous improvement of these processes.

Our commitments

To reduce the impact of its activities on the environment, Infrabel has made six pledges:

reducing consumption of energy and water,

reducing harmful emissions into the air, water and soil,

managing hazardous products,

separated collection of waste,

compliance with environmental legislation,

managing emergency situations.

Teamwork

This certificate is something which the staff at the ILCs and in the geographical areas concerned have worked hard to achieve. They are the real driving force behind this project and they continue to follow it up on a daily basis. The ISO certificate is therefore also recognition of this teamwork where everyone has made a contribution.

Following on from Ans and Denderleeuw, the certification process will also get underway for other ILCs. For example, logistics processes relating to waste management will be further improved for all of Infrabel's ILCs.
