OREANDA-NEWS. February 14, 2014. The crushing plant will reduce to zero percentage of lump coal, oversized pieces and rash getting to a warehouse. This is especially relevant in the current situation, when the open pit is considerably increasing annual volume of products shipped to customers from 3.6 mln tons to 4.25 mln tons.

“2014 has been announced the year of coal quality at the open pit, therefore, all services are working towards this target. In accordance with specifications, any linear dimension of a coal piece should not exceed 300 millimetres. Now all troubled coal from our deposit will pass through this plant,” commented Vyacheslav Koshevoy, Chief Engineer, the Urtuiskoye open cast mining office.

Experts from several subdivisions of JSC PIMCU assembled the plant in just a month. Welding works were carried out on a 24-hour basis to launch the plant within the shortest time period. “People took it honestly, understanding that the equipment should be put into operation as soon as possible. Coal will now be of higher quality so that customers’ claims are unlikely,” says Anatoliy Zubov, site supervisor, the Urtuiskoye open cast mining office.

Throughput capacity of the semi mobile crushing plant of modular construction is 300 cubic metres of coal in an hour. Annual capacity is approximately 1.5 mln tons. This is an average volume of oversized pieces. Coal to be crushed and graded into coarse and fine fractions is fed by a loader.

The crushing plant was purchased within the framework of the project on Optimization and Logistics of Open-Pit Coal Mine. In 2013 only, more than 300 mln roubles was invested in new equipment for the Urtuiskiy. These funds were also used to extend haulage tracks at a coal-storage area, commission new hoists, buy new vehicles for LLC Urtuiskoye Motor Fleet, including blade graders, tractors, bulldozers and dump trucks.
