OREANDA-NEWS. Aegis Limited, a global outsourcing and technology services company, announced today that it has been recognized with the Excellence in BPO/ITES Award for Large Enterprise Category, by the Indian Merchants' Chamber. This recognition was bestowed upon Aegis during the annual Indian Merchants' Chamber (IMC) IT awards 2014.

Established in 1907, the Indian Merchants' Chamber is recognized as India's top chamber of trade, commerce and industry, with over 3,000 members. Indian Merchants' Chamber (IMC) - IT awards is an initiative to acknowledge organizations, which have contributed significantly in areas of technology and business transformation. It acknowledges IT/BPO companies and end users of IT/BPO for technological solutions, applications and improvements that have transformed the industry.

Mr Sandip Sen, Global CEO, Aegis Limited, said, “We are humbled with this recognition from the prestigious Indian Merchants' Chamber. This recognition further acknowledges the breadth of services we provide and particularly our investment in global delivery model, customer experience management and domain capabilities, which is driving better business outcomes for our clients.”

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shailesh Vaidya, President, IMC, said, “India is now known to churn out one of the best quality IT in the world today. IMC IT Awards 2013 is the first step to recognize this fraternity of industry, which has made IT synonymous with India. Technology has changed the way we look at the world today. It has made life easier and more efficient for us, and India has now become a name to reckon with in the international IT sphere.”

Giving an overview on the IT sector, Dr. Lalit Kanodia, Chairman, IT Committee, IMC, said, “There was a need for taking up the issues of IT sector seriously in the current scenario. Software exports from India were expected to be around USD 85 billion this year, despite the global meltdown. Together with domestic software revenues, IT services constituted 1% of our GDP in 1998, 4% in 2008 and 6% today. If IT hardware is included, IT constitutes about 7?% of our GDP. This is about half the share of entire manufacturing sector in our economy, and thus underlines the importance of IT to India.”

This being the first year of inception of the annual IMC-IT awards, Aegis was amongst the few companies, which got selected from close to 150 nominations. With more than 56 locations across 13 countries and over 55,000 employees, Aegis has placed customer experience (CX) management at the core of its business strategy.
