OREANDA-NEWS. Traffic has opened along new overpasses constructed by specialists from OJSC Mostotrest in the framework of a state contract to build a segment of the Fourth Ring Road from Entuziastov Highway to Izmailovsky Highway (the second startup facility).

The Exit 8 overpass provides drivers traveling from the center of Moscow with an exit from Entuziastov Highway to the outer diameter of the Fourth Ring Road in the direction of Izmailovsky Highway. The Exit 6 overpass connects the segment of the Fourth Ring Road from Izmailovsky Highway with Entuziastov Highway toward the region. The new two-lane overpasses are 840 meters and 432 m long, respectively, and the traffic way width ranges from 9.5 to 11.5 m. A 472-m expanded segment of Entuziastov Highway and access way to Elektrodnaya Street were also built and commissioned at this stage.

With the launch of traffic along the new overpasses and the expanded Entuziastov Highway, the transport load has been reduced on one of the busiest segments of Entuziastov Highway - from Budenny Prospekt to Plekhanov Street.

The construction of a segment of the Fourth Ring Road from Entuziastov Highway to Izmailovsky Highway (the second startup facility) is a complex, integrated project that entails the construction of 13 overpasses measuring a total of 8.9 kilometers, four underground and two ground-level pedestrian crossings, and a railway overpass (five railway lines) in the direction of the Moscow Little Ring Railway through Entuziastov Highway. It also involves reconstructing Lefortovo Station and building a 916-square-m passenger pavilion, rebuilding 4.5 km worth of existing tramway lines, and modifying heating networks (10 km), water ducts (13.7 km), gas pipelines (4.6 km), power lines (140 km), telephone lines (1,462 km), and other utilities on a large scale. This segment of the Fourth Ring Road will have four lanes in both directions and two-lane traffic at entrances and exits. In addition, owners of garages located in the construction zone will be compensated with six- and eight-story two-garage complexes capable of holding 3,880 and 1,473 vehicles, respectively.

Traffic is already open along the two exit overpasses and the main road, thereby connecting Izmailovsky Highway and Entuziastov Highway. A new railway flyover has been commissioned and freight traffic opened along the reconstructed Lefortovo Station on the Moscow Railway. In order to ensure pedestrian safety, four pedestrian crossings were constructed - two ground-level and two underground.

The Moscow Construction Department and OJSC Mostotrest signed the state contract to build a segment of the Fourth Ring Road from Entuziastov Highway to Izmailovsky Highway (the second startup facility) in 2008. The contract envisages phased construction, which is scheduled for completion in May 2015.
