OREANDA-NEWS. Deputy Chairman, Board Member of Vnesheconombank Alexandr Ivanov was reelected as Chairman of the Managing Committee of the UN Global Compact Network Russia (the UN GC in Russia). A relevant decision was taken on in late February of 2014 at a meeting of the Managing Committee in the UN House in Moscow.

Vnesheconombank has been a party to the UN Global Compact since December of 2011.

"Russian participants share and support interest in expanding the Network's geographical presence as well as its changes and transformations in the immediate future", said Alexandr Ivanov. "Our top-priority objectives for the year 2014 are to register the network as a legal entity, create and launch an internet site to boost information openness" he stressed.

Nowadays, the UN Global Compact Network in Russia is comprised of about 75 institutional participants including big business companies, small and medium-sized enterprises, business associations, nonprofit nongovernmental organizations and academic institutes. Vnesheconombank is the leader of the National Association of Russian signatories to the UN GC - the UN Global Compact Network in Russia.

The United Nations Global Compact is the largest international initiative in sustainable development and forming global partnership between government and corporate sectors in accordance with ten principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption that gained universal recognition. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon is in charge of the UN GC. More than 10 thousand organizations from 145 world countries including leading foreign financial institutions participate in the UC Global Compact and its primary objective is to strengthen civil society's role of organizations -signatories throughout the world.
