OREANDA-NEWS. March 14, 2014. The decision to hold the forum in Moldova was taken at a sitting of the Economy Ministry and the Moldovan Investment and Export Promotion Organization (MIEPO), chaired by Vice-premier, Economy Minister Valeriu Lazar, the Ministry informs.

Moldova once played host for the forum, on February 20/21, 2008. According to the Economy Minister, Vienna Economic Forum is an important event that aims to consolidate efforts for attracting direct foreign investment. In this context, the forum is considered as an instrument to inform foreign participants about an investment and business climate in Moldova. To establish business contacts and bolster economic development of Moldova, they will be presented regional advantages of our country. Valeriu Lazar emphasized that the key objective of the forum for Moldova is to broaden investment inflows to our country by convincing foreign investors that from the regional point of view, making investment in our country and establishing partnership between them and local companies is advantageous.

The Forum will be taken part in by local entrepreneurs, representatives of business associations, financial institutions and foreign companies. At the plenary session of the forum, consideration will be given to matters of investment policies and investment opportunities offered by Moldova in the industrial, financial and energy sector, possibilities and opportunities of regional development through promotion of investment agriculture and infrastructure projects, etc. The ultimate program of the forum is going to be made public closer to the beginning of the event. Vienna Economic Forum was founded in April 2004.

As one of the most powerful European non-government organizations, it sets it as its goal to promote investment in countries of the region. Members of the Forum are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Monte Negro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey.
