OREANDA-NEWS. The United Metallurgical Company (Moscow-based OMK Closed Joint Stock Company) is to supply 50,000 tons of oil and gas pipes for the Vladimir Filanovsky oil-gas condensate field, which was developed by LUKOIL in the waters of the Caspian Sea.

The pipes, which are a new item in OMK's product line, are 711 mm in diameter, with wall thicknesses of 22.2 mm, 25.4 mm, and 29 mm. They have an external polyethylene coating, and are made from X65 strength class steel. They were produced at Vyksa Steel Works (VSW Open Joint Stock Company, based in Nizhny Novgorod, is part of OMK) from the company's own sheets which are made in its Heavy Plate Mill 5000. The Novo-Lipetsk Metallurgical Plant (part of the NLMK) supplied the slabs for the rolled stock. The pipes are intended for the land stretches of the field's pipeline infrastructure. They are distinguished by improved operational characteristics (which are a must for high pressure lines).

“The contract for supplying pipelines to the Filanovsky field facilities demonstrates the possibilities of the high-tech chain of “slab-steel list-large diameter pipe” which is available at Vyksa Steel Works. VSW's own rolling mill and pipe production facility make it possible to cut supply deadlines and to ensure the continuous high quality of OMK's products,” said Vladimir Markin, President of the United Metallurgical Company.
