OREANDA-NEWS. Following the results of February 2014, the passenger traffic of Moscow Domodedovo Airport increased by 5% YoY and amounted to 1.94 million people.

In February 2014, the number of flights increased by 7.0% YoY to make 18.5 thousand take-offs and landings.

Following the results of January and February 2014, the passenger traffic amounted to 4.11 million people. The year-on-year increase made 4.2%.

During the first two months of 2014, 39.1 thousand flights were operated, which is 6.4% more compared to the same period in 2013.

The domestic airlines passenger traffic for January and February reached to 1.83 million people, which is 11.4% more than for the same period of last year. The highest growth is registered on the following domestic routes: Sochi, St. Petersburg, Vladikavkaz, Makhachkala, Mineralnye Vody. Passenger traffic on these routes amounted to 468 thousand people, which is 53% more than for the same period of last year.

The international airlines passenger traffic for the first two months of 2014 amounted to 2.28 million people. The highest growth is registered on the following international routes: Sharm el-Sheikh, Kishenev, London, Punta Cana, Barcelona. In January-February 2014, 397 thousand people were transported in these destinations, which is 42.4% more than last year.

For the first two winter month of 2014, Domodedovo passenger traffic amounted to 25.3 thousand tonnes.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest air hub in Russia, and in 2013, its total passenger traffic amounted 30.76 million people. It falls into the category of the largest airports in Europe and is among the top three fastest growing airports in Europe according to the ACI Europe classification.
