OREANDA-NEWS. The international technological forum “Innovations. Technologies. Manufacturing” will be held on 18-19 March 2014 in Rybinsk bringing together large-scale, high-tech industrial companies with the representatives of small-to-medium-sized businesses, higher and vocational learning institutions and Russia's leading R&D organizations.

The forum organizers comprise the Innovative territorial cluster “Gas turbine machinery and power engineering”, NPO Saturn, the P.A. Solovev Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University (RSATU), the Yaroslavl regional government, the Rybinsk administration, the Union of Russian mechanical engineers, the Saxony economy facilitation department (Germany) and the Safran Group (France). The partners of the forum are the Northern bank of Sberbank of Russia and Vympelcom (the Beeline brand).

Around 400 delegates from Russia, France and Germany have signed up to participate in the event including a number of academicians from the Russian Academy of Sciences, 24 professors as well as future and present Ph.D.'s.

For two days, the NPO Saturn training center, RSATU and the Rybinsk public cultural center will become global discussion fields for the forum participants.

The key items on the forum agenda that will be treated in the frame of the forum's 9 topic sections will be the technological and tooling preparation with relation to mechanical engineering (the “Parts, tools and tooling coating technology” section), design and machining of new materials (the “New materials based on polymer, intermetallic and ceramic matrix” section), production management (the “Gas turbine engines repair development technology” section), production process automation (the “Innovative production processes. High-speed machining of complex-profile parts”. Welding. Improvement of surface treatment precision and quality” section), modern business development directions (the “Engineering and reengineering of the modern, high-tech production set-up's” section), collaboration with small and medium businesses (the “Outsourcing. From business to business” section), human resources training (the “Education for a technological leader” section); the forum participants will also study the principals of interaction between the industrial and public-economic mass media and the companies (the “Hyperlinked world of technology” section).

The forum participants will have a chance to analyze the global market development, prospects of implementing new projects in the field of modern technologies, share their experience and find new partners.

With the purpose of devising a new production policy in view of growing production volumes, NPO Saturn is interested in expanding its collaboration with the small-to-medium-sized businesses; it is also interested in the development of a network of outsourcers, in the creation of high-quality, science-intensive products in shorter lead-times which is the main objective of the panel discussions and of the forum in general.

Those attending the forum opening ceremony are the governor of the Yaroslavl region Sergey Yastrebov, first Yaroslavl region governor deputy Alexander Knyazkov, NPO Saturn chief executive officer, president of the Yaroslavl regional branch of the Union of Russian mechanical engineers, chairman of the board of the innovative territorial cluster “Gas turbine machinery and power engineering” Ilya Fedorov.

During the plenary session, the representative of the Saxon economy in Russia Dr. Manfred Liebl, head of Safran representative office in Russia Marc Sorel, director of the thermal physics institute Sergey Alekseenko, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nikolay Lyakhov and RSATU president, doctor of technical sciences, professor Valeriy Poletaev will discuss the main trends in the development of high-tech companies, also referred to as the technological leaders.

In addition, a confirmation of participation in the forum was received from the top managers and technical experts of United Engine Corporation including the representatives of its Civil Engines Division, NPO Saturn subsidiaries and partners, United Aircraft Corporation, Russian Helicopters, ROSNANO, the innovative territorial and aerospace clusters of Russia, France and the land of Saxony (Germany), RSATU as well as the leading technical higher learning and R&D institutions of Moscow, Kazan, Samara, Perm, Novosibirsk, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Fraunhofer institutes (Germany).

In the frame of the forum, a ceremony of bestowing the awards upon the winners of a dedicated “The youth in science” contest, which was administered extramurally between the students of technological higher learning institutions, will take place. The contest winners will receive memorable prizes while the content of their reports will be published in a scientific magazine included in the HCC (Highest certification commission) list.

Also, as part of the forum-related events, there will be an open project session conducted by the Agency for strategic initiatives dedicated to the development of dual education programs in the territory of the Yaroslavl region. The international technological forum “Innovations. Technologies. Manufacturing” held for the first time in Rybinsk as a foundation for discussions and practical use of breakthrough technologies, modern knowledge and generation of new ideas facilitating dynamic development of the “Gas turbine machinery and power engineering” territorial cluster promises to become traditional, which will ultimately help organize a new industrial infrastructure of the Yaroslavl region and its contacts on the global market.

The NPO Saturn Research and Production Association (OJSC) is an engine-building company specialized in the design and development, production and after-market support of gas turbine engines for military and civil aviation, naval ships and power-generating plants and gas-pumping units. The association is part of the All-Russian public organization The Union of mechanical engineers of Russia whereby the regional branch is headed by I. N. Fedorov, NPO Saturn CEO.
