March 18, 2014. 3,3 million tons of seaborne cargo were handled totally in Klaipeda Seaport and at Butinges Terminal in February of 2014: the cargo handling turnover in Klaipeda Port was 2,8 mln. tn, (the year – on - year change was -12 pct. or -382,5 thou. tn) and -0,5 mln. tn of cargo were handled at  Butinges terminal (the year – on - year change was -16 pct. or -95,8 thou. tn).

The most significant cargo throughput in February of the current year comparing with the second month of 2013 was recorded in the group of general cargo: totally 939,5 thou. tn were handled, i.e. +12,5 pct. or +104,3 thou. tn. Such a positive change was reached due to significantly increased turnover of containerised cargoes -in terms of tonnage it increased by +27,8 pct. or by +96,1 thou. tn to 441,2 thou. tn and in terms of TEU it increased by +9 pct. or by +2 923 TEU to 35 338.

-Bulk natural and chemical fertilizers ( 676,2 thou. tn were transhiped, the yoy change was +3,6 pct. or +23,3 thou. tn);

-ore ( 108,2 thou. tn were handled,  the yoy change was  +142,2pct.  or +63,5 thou. tn);

-oil products ( 439,5 thou. tn were transhiped, the yoy change was -45,5 pct. or -3664,4 thou. tn);

-Ro-Ro cargoes (348,7 thou. tn were handled, the yoy change was -4,9 pct. or -17,9 thou. tn) were the categories of cargo that made the greatest impact on cargo handling turnover in February  of the current year.
