OREANDA-NEWS. JSC Gazprom Neft sponsored the Synergy of Static and Dynamic Modelling workshop, organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) in partnership with the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE). The event was held from 18-20 March in Moscow, and was attended by more than 100 leading experts in static and dynamic modelling from the oil and gas industry.

Integrated static and dynamic model of an oil and gas field

Experts from Gazpromneft Research Centre participated in a number of plenary sessions, sharing their experiences of collaborating to create a conceptual approach to the development of the East Messoyakha field, and of static and dynamic modelling in the development of oil rims. They also discussed the use of a hierarchy of models to define an optimum approach to field development, as well as other issues currently facing the industry.

Mars Khasanov, CEO of Gazpromneft Research Centre and Co-Chair of the Conference Programme Committee, said: “Integrated static and dynamic modelling in oil field development helps find answers to a whole range of questions facing petroleum engineers during the development of both conventional fields and complex and hard-to-recover reserves. Mathematical modelling allows us to improve our techniques for investigating the geological structure, porosity, and permeability of an oil-bearing formation and as a result, we are able to select the best method of field development. By studying the experience of both Russian and international experts who work with static and dynamic modelling, we can develop our own expertise and apply state-of-the-art methods and technologies to ever more complex tasks.”
