OREANDA-NEWS. April 01, 2014. Minister of Environment and Water Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Kapparov made a working visit to the Kingdom of Norway.

During his visit to Oslo N. Kapparov met with representatives of Norway official and business circles.

At the meeting with the Minister of Climate and Environment of Norway Tine Sundtoft discussed issues of cooperation in the field of sustainable energy, clean technology and innovation, management of natural resources.

N. Kapparov noted that these sectors where Norway is a leader, are identified as priorities in the Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s Address "Kazakhstan's way - 2050: common goal, common interests, common future ", the Concept of Transition of Kazakhstan to the "green" economy.  Also the possibility of mutual support within the Norwegian initiative "Energy Plus" and Partnership Programme "Green Bridge" was discussed.

Nurlan Kapparov told about the purpose of entering Kazakhstan among 30 developed countries and the measures to achieve them during the discussions with Norway Minister of Fisheries Elizabeth Aspaker and Vice-Minister of Trade and Industry of Norway Dilek Ayhan. He also noted that Norway, as one of the leading countries in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, could be an important partner in the development of Kazakhstan's cooperation with this organization.

N. Kapparov also informed about the program for fisheries development developed in the framework of the Concept of the country's transition to a "green" economy. In this regard N. Kapparov noted that Kazakhstan is interested in development of aquaculture and gaining experience in this sector of Norway.

Prospects for cooperation in the field of renewable energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions were discussed during the meeting with Chairman of the Board of corporation “Scatec” Alf Borset and “Carbon Limits” company management.

N. Kapparov also invited the representatives of official and business circles of Norway to take part in the VII Astana Economic Forum in preparation for the international exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana.
