OREANDA-NEWS. On March 26, 2014, Apsat open-pit mine (the Trans-Baikal Territory) part of SUEK Group won its millionth tonne of coal since the beginning of operations at the Apsat Coalfield.

The Apsat Coalfield is located in the Kalar region of the Trans-Baikal Territory 36 km north of the Baikal-Amur Railway and the regional hub of Chara. The operations were launched in June 2012.

The open-pit min is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery complying with best world standards: excavators, such as Liebherr R954, Komatsu PC-1250, Doosan 4804, Hitachi EX-1900-6, dump trucks, such as Terex TA-400, Terex TR-100, Scania-420.

In June 2013, pursuant to the Trans-Baikal Territory Government resolution the operations at the Apsat Coalfield were conferred the status of investment project of territorial significance. The project involves establishing an open-pit type colliery, a coal preparation plant and other infrastructural facilities.
