OREANDA-NEWS. United Engine Corporation (affiliate company of OAO “OPK “Oboronprom”, which is part of the state-owned “Rostekh” Corporation) has prepared outlines of future activities for a newly created International Engineering Center aimed at developing engines for commercial and military transport aircraft. The document is viewed as a draft proposal taking into consideration a medium-term perspective and will have to gain approval during the scientific and technical council meeting of the incipient institution. The shareholding pattern of “UEC International Engineering Center” will feature OAO “UEC” and Ukrainian AO “Motor-Sich” with 51% and 49% respectively. As a dedicated Joint-Venture, it will be entrusted with R&D studies of gas-turbine equipment, including aviation propulsion systems.

For the moment, the medium-term planning of the Engineering Center's activities has taken in the perspective until 2020. It will provide for a stage-by-stage buildup of cooperation between specialists of UEC and Motor-Sich both in projects that are currently underway between the two companies and in getting new ones started. Coming within the scope of joint studies will be an advanced helicopter engine (PDV), modification of D-18T Series 3 engines (to power An-124-111 and An-124-100M transport aircraft), D-436-148FM engines (for An-178, An-148T aircraft), AI-222-25 with increased thrust, a new PD-14 engine intended for MS-21 airplane, etc.

On the other hand, the Russian-Ukrainian Engineering Center will not be envisaging the development of combat aviation engines.
