OREANDA-NEWS. April 04, 2014. Head of Transport and Communications Ministry Zhenis Kasymbek met with the ambassadors of Georgia and Iran.

Parties noted the dynamic development of bilateral relations and discussed further cooperation.

Minister of Transport and Communications Zhenis Kasymbek and Iranian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Gorban Seyfi agreed to expand two-way communication. In particular, it will contribute to the launch of the railway line "Uzen (Kazakhstan) - Kyzylkaya - Bereket - Etrek (Turkmenistan) - Gorgan (Iran)", the construction of which has been completed on the territory of Kazakhstan.

Meanwhile, during the meeting with the Minister of Georgia's Ambassador to Kazakhstan Zurab Pataradze it was noted that Kazakhstan will be able to diversify the supply of goods using the capabilities of the new railway "Baku – Tbilisi - Kars", which is designed to connect rail networks of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey in the future.

The Ambassador also noted the importance of the Agreement on the establishment of a coordinating committee on development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route signed by the transporters of Kazakhstan, Georgia and Azerbaijan in the framework of the II international transportation and logistics business forum "New Silk Road" in November last year. As is known, the purpose of this agreement is to attract transit, conducting a concerted policy in setting tariffs for the carriage of goods, infrastructure development and the creation of a joint integrated logistics product. According to Zurab Pataradze the decision to establish a committee is satisfactory.

In turn, Minister of Transport and Communications Zhenis Kasymbek stressed that the transit traffic expansion is one of the main objectives of the State program of infrastructure development and integration of the transport system until 2020 adopted in the Republic of Kazakhstan at the end of last year. He also stated the importance of relations with Georgia for Kazakhstan, and promised that the Ministry will strongly contribute to their further development.
