OREANDA-NEWS.   In Thun (Switzerland), an agreement was signed between OJSC KAMAZ and Thermission AG (Switzerland) on establishment of KAMAZ-Thermission Joint Venture, as well as execution of the first large order.
The document provides for the parties’ agreement to establish a joint venture for processing of metals using Levicor technology for KAMAZ. The Swiss company is obliged to convey the Russian company the patentee’s exclusive rights of the technology (also on the territory of the Member States of the Customs Union). The shares of KAMAZ and Thermission AG in the JV will be 49% and 51%, respectively. The joint venture will reach its full capacity after the construction of lines for part processing.
Last year, during his working visit to Switzerland, Sergey Kogogin, Director General of KAMAZ, visited the Thermission plant in Thun where he got acquainted with its activities. The declared benefits of Levicor, including environmental friendliness, were studied and confirmed by experts of leading institutes, enterprises of the military-industrial complex and the Russian Academy of Sciences. KAMAZ has recently finished testing KAMAZ parts processed with the use of Levicor technology, which enabled to reduce the weight characteristics of KAMAZ products.
Sergey Kogogin noted positive aspects of cooperation with Thermission AG. “We have long been looking for a technology for our parts processing that, being environmentally friendly, would at the same time be long-run, resistant to high temperatures, climatic influences and salt. We came to this solution with Levicor. Thanks to this partnership, KAMAZ, the largest truck manufacturer in Russia, will receive another important competitive advantage in the market,” said Mr. Kogogin.
In his turn, Stav Jacobi, President of Thermission, said that it was important for him to cooperate with the Russians. “We know that the automotive industry makes the greatest demands of anticorrosion treatment of details. We are glad that almost immediately after the opening of the plant in Thun we found such an important and major partner as KAMAZ. The Russian company got an opportunity to test our technology in action and thus personally became convinced of its efficiency. I hope that the cooperation will be fruitful,” said Stav Jacobi.
OJSC KAMAZ is the largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles and diesel engines in Russia. By volumes of vehicle production, the company ranks 13th in the world and 18th by engine production. There are four JVs established by KAMAZ and the world`s leading manufacturers of automotive components – ZF KAMA, CUMMINS KAMA, KNORR BREMSE KAMA, Federal Mogul Naberezhnye Chelny. KAMAZ has an extensive sales and service network that covers all regions of Russia and many countries of the CIS.
Thermission AG is a Swiss company, the exclusive owner of the intellectual property rights of Levicor technology designed for anticorrosion treatment of high-strength steels. And it gives an additional effect – a significant improvement in mechanical properties of details, reduction of their weight, and even an increase in armour characteristics. Furthermore, Thermission AG developed unique equipment for commercial thermodiffusion processing of large parts in a waste-free closed cycle.
