OREANDA-NEWS. April 14, 2014. Eesti Energia has managed to stabilize production at its 250-million euro shale oil plant Enefit280 in Auvere, nearly 20 months after completing construction.

“The Enefit280 plant has achieved stability after 20 months of testing, developing and inventing by Eesti Energia specialists,” Eliis Vennik, a spokesman for the company told Aripaev.

She said the company employees 300 people to produce oil from shale oil, most of which is exported.

The plant, in Ida-Virumaa, has been a thorn in the side for Eesti Energia. Moody's, the investors' service, downgraded the company's credit rating in January due to the plant. The co-owner of the technology used in the plant, Outotec, has demanded an additional 28 million euros for the construction costs. The plant also suffered a fire incident last year.
