OREANDA-NEWS. Passenger traffic rose 1.3 percent during the first two months of 2014 with 6,488,139 passengers traveling through Charlotte Douglas compared to 6,406,183 that same time period last year.

Contributing to that increase, international passenger traffic jumped 1.9 percent from 378,794 travelers (January - February 2013) to 385,912 through February of this year.

Due to winter storms that caused thousands of flight cancellations nationwide, aircraft movements decreased 4.7 percent. There were 83,133 aircraft movements (January - February 2014) compared to 87,232 at the beginning of 2013.

Cargo numbers were also down by 3.3 percent. CLT handled 20,072 tons of cargo (January - February 2014) compared to 20,753 tons last year at that time.
