OREANDA-NEWS. Within the scope of the international business development, Flughafen Zurich AG will provide advisory services for the operation of several airports in Kazakhstan through a joint venture.

Flughafen Zurich AG provides advisory services for the operation of up to eleven airports in Kazakhstan within a joint venture structure. With 2.3 million passengers per annum, the airport of the capital Astana is the largest one in the advisory mandate. The city of Astana will host the “Expo 2017”. In terms of surface area, Kazakhstan it the ninth largest country in the world with a disproportionately high economic growth. Therefore, Kazakhstan needs a reliable and wellfunctioning air traffic infrastructure. Within the service agreement of several years, Flughafen Zurich AG will bring in its management know how and support the Kazakh operating company. However, Flughafen Zurich AG will not invest into the airport infrastructure which remains completely in property of the Kazakh state.

International activities of Zurich Airport

Currently, Flughafen Zurich AG is engaged in eleven airports outside Switzerland, i.e. in India and Latin America. Among others, there are Bangalore in India, Antofagasta, Puerto Montt und Iquique in Chile, Bogota in Columbia, Belo Horizonte in Brazil and Curacao. Flughafen Zurich AG's strategy focuses on management contracts in collaboration with strong local partners in emerging markets such as Latin America, Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Central or South East Asia.
