OREANDA-NEWS. April 28, 2014. ICBC has recently launched "General USB-Shield" in China, which is primarily featured by its usability in PCs, tablets and smart phones for identity authentication in electronic Banking, providing customers with safer and more convenient electronic banking services.

The new USB-Shield comes with an adapter which can be connected to computer via USB port, or mobile devices (smart phones, ipad) through audio interface, said an official with the Bank. It not only includes all functions of USB-Shield used in Internet Banking, but also applies strong encryption, digital authentication and digital signature to protect customer information from being copied and prevent risk. It is a highly secure device for customers to conduct personal banking from their PCs or cellphones. Currently, "General USB-Shield" is available for Mobile Banking customers using Apple phones and Android-based phones.

The ICBC official said, "General USB-Shield" is very convenient to use. Anytime customers can apply during registration of Internet Banking at ICBC outlets. A driver must be installed before connecting the device for the first time. When making monetary transfer or remittance through Internet Banking or Mobile Banking, the amount and A/C No. will be displayed on the LCD of the USB-Shield automatically. Customers may press "Confirm" to complete the transfer or remittance if no error is found.

Industry insiders said commercial banks have scaled up their marketing efforts on mobile financial services in recent years, given the prevalence of mobile communication and mobile internet. These banks use cutting-edge technology to extend electronic banking services for all mobile terminal users. As of today, the numbers of online banking and mobile banking users in ICBC have both exceeded 100 million. The launch of "General USB-Shield" is a new attempt of ICBC to improve customer experience in mobile banking.
