OREANDA-NEWS. May 05, 2014. President Nicolae Timofti participated in the Anniversary Eastern Partnership Summit in Prague, the Czech Republic. On this occasion, Timofti visited the collective stand of Moldovan and Transnistrian producers, who exhibited their wines and alcoholic beverages at the Wine & Delicacies international specialised exhibition, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s press services has reported.

Timfoti discussed with each of those 15 entrepreneurs and positively appreciated their participation in this event. Timofti got interested in the variety of exhibited Moldovan products and voiced confidence that the Moldovan economic agents would find business partners on the European Union’s market.

The Moldovan businessmen’ participation, with a collective stand, in the Wine & Delicacies exhibition, was organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the financial assistance of the EU-UNDP Support to Confidence Building Measures Programme and support of Moldova’s embassy in the Czech Republic.

Dry wines, alcoholic beverages, liquors, brandies and champagnes produces by 15 Moldovan and Transnistrian companies, among which Lion-Gri Ltd, Renaissance Perfect Ltd, Cimislia Joint-Stock Company, Barza Alba Joint-Stock Company, Chateau Vartely Ltd, Kvint Wine and Brandy enterprise, Buket Moldavii Joint-Stock Company, as well as Small and Medium-sized Enterprises members of the Moldovan Small Wine Producers Association, were exhibited at the collective stand.

Director General of the Chateau Vartely Ltd Ludmila Gogu said that the Czech Republic was a market with great potential for the Moldovan wines. "We are present already with semi-sweet wines on the Czech market, but we also want to propose the Czech consumers dry wines, and the Wine & Delicacies international specialised exhibition is an efficient platform to promote ourselves and find new business partners," Gogu said.

The head of the Marketing and Sales Department at the Buket Moldavii Company, Alexandr Gordiiciuc, said that the enterprise was interested in the Czech market. "While working to the stand, we have set contacts with potential partners as regards the distribution of our beverages in the Czech Republic. We also got familiarised with the consumers’ requirements, we got informed about the export possibilities to EU. I hope that the new contacts to transform into sustainable partnerships," Gordiiciuc said.

Moldovan businessmen also take part in the Business Contact Exchange at the Czech Economic Chamber today.

The Support to Confidence Building Measures Programme is implemented by UNDP Moldova in 2012 – 2015 and has a budget of 10.6 million euros, provided by the European Union (9.5 million euros) and UNDP (1.1 million euros). The programme contributes to bolstering confidence between the two banks of Dniester, by involving local authorities, civil society, business community and other sides interested in the economic and social development of settlements.
