OREANDA-NEWS. Russia will be represented by 121 exhibits at the international exhibition for antiterrorist operations and rapid response forces in Jordan. The Russian stand at the show has been created in partnership with Rostec. The company Shvabe, part of the state corporation Rostec, will present 15 different sights with military and civil purposes.

The SOFEX-2014 international exhibition of special forces will take place May 6-8 in Amman, Jordan.

The exhibition is organized into thematic sections, including: communications; antiterrorist operations equipment; mine-clearing equipment; rapid response equipment and technology; field-medicine equipment; and ground-based navigation systems.

The SOFEX exhibition has been held since 1996, with Russia participating since 2002. This year the Russian stand at the exhibition will feature products from the companies Rosoboronexport and Shvabe-Defense and Security.

The Schwabe-Defense and Security enterprise, which is part of the holding company Shvabe, will present exhibition participants four samples of military products: the night scopes 1PN93-2 AK and 1PN93-4 SVD, which uses an electron-optical converter with a switching power supply, and scopes for rifles.

Additionally, the enterprise will present 11 devices for both military and civilian use. They include: the PNN14M night-vision device, which uses an electron-optical converter with a switching power supply and also auto-gating functions; night-vision binoculars consisting of two interconnected and interchangeable lenses; the PN-14K night vision device; the PN22K day- and night-vision device; a laser sights; a thermal monocular device; day sights; a sight with interchangeable increasing lenses; and modular night sights.

One of the main purposes of the holding company Shvabe participating in the Jordanian exhibition is the opportunity to begin marketing special-purpose optoelectronic products in the African region. In an effort to achieve these goals, meetings will be held with potential partners, including representatives of the South African company Stingray Holdings Ltd and the largest distributor of specialized equipment in the UAE, Advanced Security Technologies LLC.
Schwabe representatives will also hold talks with Jordanian, Turkish, and Yemeni partners about contracts to supply night vision binoculars to these countries’ government organizations.

The exhibition is expected to feature more than 350 companies from 33 countries. The U.S., Britain, France, Canada, and Turkey will have the largest exhibits. The total area of exhibition space in various pavilions and open-air arenas is 75,000 square meters.

Shvabe-Defense and Security (known before late 2013 as the Novosibirsk Instrument Factory) specializes in the design and manufacture of high-precision laser, optoelectronic, and optomechanical devices. It is part of the holding company Shvabe.
