Sergey Kogogin, Director General of KAMAZ, on Russia’s delegation visited Ashgabat where Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan’s President, and Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, Turkmenistan’s President, met. In the course of bilateral negotiations, the parties came to an agreement about delivery of a large batch of KAMAZ vehicles to Turkmenistan.
KAMAZ has long been on the Turkmen market. Today’s KAMAZ fleet in the Republic of Turkmenistan includes 8,850 vehicles. During Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov’s presidency, more than 5,500 vehicles were delivered there. There is an office of Foreign Trade Company KAMAZ’s subsidiary – Hubor Services LLP – which is a dealer of vehicles and spare parts in Turkmenistan. This company opened service centers of KAMAZ vehicles in Balkanabat, Mary, Dashoguz, and Turkmenabat. In 2008, the modern Educational and Trade Center (ETC) of KAMAZ started working in Ashgabat to sell, repair and service 5 thousand vehicles every year. It was opened by Presidents of Russia, Turkmenistan and Tatarstan. The total cost of this investment project was USD 8 million. There is an educational center in the ETC which trained about 5 thousand Turkmen drivers and experts.
The main users of KAMAZ trucks are various ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Turkmen Frontier Troops. Russian KAMAZ trucks operate for such large companies as GC Turkmenneftegaz, Turkmengaz, Turkmengeologia, and Turmkmenneftegazstroy. They are also in demand at foreign oil-and-gas and construction companies doing business in Turkmenistan.
