OREANDA-NEWS. Today, a visiting meeting of the Military-Industrial Commission (VPK) headed by Dmitry Rogozin, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, has been held in the general directorate of OJSC KAMAZ to discuss the adoption of lean manufacturing systems by the military-industrial complex and antimonopoly measures in the sphere of government orders.

Addressing the representatives of the military-industrial complex who had gathered at the meeting, Dmitry Rogozin noted that the Russian Government had practically started forming a program for 2016-2025. “This program will be related to equipping our Armed Forces with “smart” weapons,” Mr. Rogozin said in the course of the meeting on placing a state defense order at enterprises of the MIC of Volga Federal District. The Russian Vice-Premier noted that intellectualization of weapons was inevitable.

“Today the national military science, the defense industry must not only carry out tasks within their competence technically, but also offer an absolutely different patriotic approach to their civic and national duty,” Dmitry Rogozin said in his speech.

The reform of rearmament of the Russian military launched as far back as 2008 has become the largest one in the whole post-Soviet history. By 2020, the share of new weapons in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is to reach 70%. The state allocated vast sums of money for this, and, according to Mr. Rogozin, they must be reasonably spent even under conditions of the ongoing economic recession. This task can be performed primarily due to lean manufacturing principles, KAMAZ is good at, introduced in production of military equipment. The Russian leading truck maker’s lean experience will also be shared with military-industrial companies.
