OREANDA-NEWS. May 07, 2014. Member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union can veto decisions infringing business, First Vice Minister of Industry and New Technologies Albert Rau said at a briefing in the Central Communications Service.

"We took into account the experience gained in the Customs Union in the past period, and in terms of creating the conditions for business, removing barriers, no special powers to supranational bodies are delegated," he added.

Kazakh market will be protected from vehicles constructed using the SKD (semi-knocked down) model of the partner countries of the Customs Union. "There was one sensitive issue concerning industrial car assembly. Last time we came to a common formula in Minsk finally. Today, in fact, this item is out. We agreed on principles that vehicles made with welding and body painting are shipped unless localization is 30 percent or more. If it is less, then one is free to sell at its own domestic market," said A.Rau.

Vice Minister also said that this rate will be 50 percent in 2018. According to him, such a rule would encourage Kazakh car works to increase local content in their products in order to enter common market, and the Kazakh market will be protected from vehicles constructed using the SKD model of the partner countries of the Customs Union.
