OREANDA-NEWS. May 07, 2014. According to the latest figures, the Russian Railways' infrastructure carried 85,400,000 passengers in April 2014, the same as in April 2013. Suburban passenger numbers rose 0.9% to 78.2 million, while long-distance passengers fell to 7.2 million, a decline of 9.3%.

Passenger turnover in April 2014 amounted to 8.8 billion passenger-kilometres, 7.1% more than in April 2013.

In January-April 2014, Russian Railways carried 325.1 million passengers, up 2.5% compared to January-April 2013. Long-distance passenger numbers amounted to 29.2 million, a decline of 7%, while suburban passengers rose 3.6% to 295,900,000.

Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways' network since the beginning of 2014 fell by 4.8% compared to 2013 and amounted to 34.8 billion passenger-kilometres.
