OREANDA-NEWS. Ingosstrakh Insurance Company paid over RUB 2.5 m as insurance compensation to passengers, who suffered injuries in an accident in Kaluga Region on 22 January, 2014. The payment was effected under carrier's compulsory liability insurance policy for the damage to life, health, and property of passengers (OS GOP).

The accident occurred on 22 January, at 9.40, at the 11th kilometer of Kaluga-Vorotynsk road, between villages Mstikhino and Rezvan. According to the preliminary information, the accident occurred due to the fault of the driver of a Peugeot car, who grazed the bus as he was overtaking it. The bus fell on its side because of the impact. Five people suffered injuries as a result of the accident.

After the investigation of the accident and its recognition as an insured event, Ingosstrakh Insurance Company paid compensation to the injured passengers of the bus. As of the beginning of May, insurance compensation in the amount of over RUB 2.5 m was paid to 2 people who had submitted the required package of documents to the insurance company.

To recall, carriers are obliged to insure their liability to passengers pursuant to federal legislation. Federal Law No. 67-FZ of 14.06.2012 “On Compulsory Insurance of the Civil Liability of a Carrier for Causing Harm to the Lives, Health or Property of Passengers and on the Procedure for Compensating for Such Harm Caused during Passenger Transportation by Underground” came into force on 1 January, 2013. Pursuant to the effective legislation, the limit of liability of the policy holder is RUB 2,025 m in case of a passenger's death and up to RUB 2 m in case of injury and up to RUB 23,000 in case of damage to property.
