OREANDA-NEWS. JSC USK MOST, the general contractor of the bridge over the Eastern Bosphorus Strait, won the tender for the annual operation of the unique installation. This is the result of the auction held by the Federal Highway Administration for the Far East, “Dalny Vostok.”

“The operation includes a system of work and actions aimed at maintaining the proper specified condition of the elements of the bridge; keeping the external appearance of installation clean and in good repair; as well as monitoring of bridge structure operation,” reads the documentation that contains the requirements for the operator.

The world largest cable-stayed bridge, which was built for the APEC Summit 2012 in Vladivostok, is a precision engineering structure. An automated monitoring system was deployed when the bridge construction was underway. The system included about 1000 various sensors, instruments and devices, over 17 kilometers of fiber-optic communication lines, and 180 kilometers of power supply lines. Satellite communication receivers are installed on the bridge as well, and a holistic round-the-clock monitoring of the giant installation is conducted using both the GLONASS and GPS global positioning systems.

Gennady Shkuropatov, the head of the special branch of JSC USK MOST, says that it is for the third year now that the company has been engaged in operation of the bridge, which the company had built. The systems for the monitoring, protection and traffic management, service lighting and decorative lighting systems - all this sophisticated systems of equipment must be routinely kept in the perfect condition. The skilled specialists who are servicing the systems were direct participants in the bridge construction; they took part in equipment shakedown, and they know all nuances and details of the highly intellectual technologies that are used. Under the terms of the tender, the new contract was awarded for the period from 1 July 2014 to 30 June 2015.
