OREANDA-NEWS. May 20, 2014. The cornerstone for a Hilton hotel in Tallinn was laid, right next to the ERR complex, with the 13-story hotel and entertainment center due for completion at the end of 2015.

Head of Olympic Entertainment Group Armin Karu said the decision to build the 36-million euro hotel, at Gonsiori 20, was made last year. He said it will be the most modern hotel and casino in the region.

Besides Karu, Mayor of Tallinn Edgar Savisaar, US Ambassador to Estonia Jeffery Levine, the head of the region at Hilton Worldwide Tim Ettelt, and Toomas Annus, the supervisory board chairman at Merko Ehitus - the construction company tasked with building the hotel - also attended the ceremony.

The Estonian Tourist Board has said there is plenty of room for new hotels in Tallinn as there are only 6,300 rooms during peak season. Besides the Hilton, an Estoria hotel will be opened this year, and Sheraton and Accor, which runs the Adagio and Ibris hotels, are also looking into expanding to Estonia.
