OREANDA-NEWS. May 21, 2014. A total of six billion euros of income in 2013 was declared to tax authorities, marking a 5 percent increase despite the number of people declaring an income dropping.

The Tax Board said people have become more complaisant, with fewer people late with their tax declarations. The amount of income declared from abroad has increased by a third, which the authority puts down to an awareness campaign on social media. The amount increased by 37 million euros.

The total sum works out to 11,200 euros a year on average per declaration. That figure was 10,100 euros last year and 9,500 in 2011.

Only three people declared income exceeding a million euros, half the number of last year and 13 fewer than in 2011.
