OREANDA-NEWS. May 22, 2014. The majority of Estonians support the Rail Baltic project, a recent poll by Faktum & Ariko revealed.

According to the poll, 69 percent of Estonian residents have heard of the project and of that 69 percent, 73 percent support and only 16 percent are against the rail link, uudised.err.ee reported today.

Seventy-eight percent feel the project will have a positive effect on Estonia.

The aspects mentioned most often in the survey were an increase in transit and trade, faster transport links and more comfortable traveling options.

Awareness of the project varied greatly among ethnic lines - only 40 percent of non-Estonians were aware of it, while 80 percent of Estonians had heard of the project.
