OREANDA-NEWS. May 23, 2014. Belarus is ready to engage Chinese specialists in elaborating the program of structural economic reforms, Economy Minister of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov said at the meeting with Belarusian and Chinese experts at the government headquarters.

“We have drafted a program of the necessary structural changes and will unveil its details to the Chinese delegation. It will be useful to get an opinion from outside. Naturally, the program might be adjusted and a different position will certainly be taken into consideration and appreciated,” the Economy Minister said. He emphasized the importance of documenting the position of the Chinese side and submitting the documents to the Belarusian government for making a final decision.

Nikolai Snopkov noted: “I am convinced that the effort will result in a strategic document that will set forth at least the major approaches to the mid-term economic development, which will help Belarus create pre-conditions for long-term development and mutual investments of the two states”. According to the Economy Minister, China's growth is a good example of unconventional development based on traditions, history and the understanding of modern trends.

A group of Chinese economic experts is on a visit to Belarus on 18-24 May. The visit is part of intergovernmental agreements. Nikolai Snopkov believes that the current level of cooperation and strategic partnership will allow the Chinese experts to better understand Belarus' economic situation and prospects.
