OREANDA-NEWS. Within the framework of the XVIII International Economic Forum in St Petersburg, Russia, Slovenske elektrarne a.s., an Enel Group Company, and Sberbank of Russia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at developing cooperation between the parties on common areas of interest.

The agreement was signed by Enrico Viale, General Manager of Enel OGK-5, who was representing Enel's Slovak subsidiary on this occasion and Sergey Gorkov, Deputy Chairman of Sberbank of Russia Board and Supervisor of the bank's International Block.

The accord signed today sets the engagement of the Russian bank to provide a financial contribution to Slovenske elektrarne a.s. growth plans in Slovakia and Central Europe.

This memorandum also emphasizes the importance of mutual cooperation between the parties for the economies of both countries as well as the opportunities offered by cross-border operations.

Slovenske elektrarne, a.s. is the biggest electricity producer in Slovakia. In April 2006, Enel became its main shareholder with 66 % share. The rest 34 % is owned by the National Property Fund the shareholder's rights of which are executed by the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic. Slovenske elektrarne have 5,739 MW of installed capacity. In 2013, the company supplied 20.9 TWh of electricity into the power grid. Individual sources have the following shares in clean supplies: 69.95 % - nuclear power plants, 20.68 % - hydro power plants, and 9.37 % - thermal power plants and 0.01 photovoltaic power plants. As of the end of 2013, Slovenske elektrarne employed 4,591 people.
