OREANDA-NEWS. The new pyrolysis furnace commissioned by the Company will increase the product output by an average of 13 %.

The pyrolysis furnace (item F-04) of SRT-VI type has become the 3d new generation furnace produced by a Dutch manufacturer ABB Lummus Global and implemented as part of GNS ethylene and propylene production modernization. This furnace has higher efficiency (91-92%) that makes it different from those of SRT-I type (which have the efficiency of 73%) used in the GNS EP-300 production unit.

Two types of feedstock are used for the furnace operation - natural gas liquids and gasoline feedstock, with 34 tons per hourmaximum input by natural gas liquids and 36 tons per hour maximum input by gasoline feedstock. The commissioning of the new furnace enables to process 100 tons of feedstock per hour with all the furnaces of SRT-VI type operated using gasoline feedstock.

In 2014, based on the Company's operating and financial targets, the total production of ethylene at Gazprom neftekhim Salavat is going to make 310,000 tons that is 23% more than in 2012.

The commissioning of the new furnace allows not only to improve the selectivity of the pyrolysis process and increase industrial safety, but also to reduce environmental impacts. Less fuel is used to operate the furnace (item F-04), that means fuel-gas emission to the atmosphere is reduced and while decoking waste water generation is excluded.

Background information: Three large production units operate at the Monomer plant of Gazprom neftekhim Salavat: ethylene-propylene plant, plastics plant, alcohols and plasticizers plant. The major products of the Monomer plant are ethylene, propylene, pentane-isoprenecyclopentadiene fraction, butylene-butadiene fraction, heavy pyrolysis residue, styrene, polystyrene, HDPE, LDPE, technical n-butyl alcohol, technical isobutyl alcohol, 2-ethylhexanol, DOP plasticizer.
