OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus reduced exports of farm products and foodstuffs by 1.5% year on year in January-March 2014 to USD 1.318 billion, the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat) told.

Imports of farm products and foodstuffs grew 1.5% year on year in Q1 2014 to USD 994 million. Hence, Belarus produced a USD 324.5 million surplus in foreign trade in farm products in Q1 2014 to compare with a USD 360.2 million surplus in Jan-Mar 2013.

Farm products and foodstuffs account for 12.6% of Belarus' total foreign trade volume in Q1 2014 (up 1.2 percentage points year on year), including exports - 14.5% (up 4 pp), imports - 10.7% (up 1.1 pp).

According to Belstat, Belarus' foreign trade in merchandize reduced 6.8% year on year in Jan-Mar 2014 to USD 18.376 billion, including exports - USD 9.123 billion (down 4.1%), imports - USD 9.253 billion (down 9.3%).
