OREANDA-NEWS. June 02, 2014. Annual session of Security Committee of International Association of Platinum Group Metals (SC PGMA) presided by MMC Norilsk Nickel finalized in Saint Petersburg.

Having engaged specialists of the Institute and its chemical-criminalistics laboratory (CCL), the participants of the session got acquainted with the vectors and results of the Gipronickel institute activity, studied positive experience of CCL in bringing to practice of complex methodology of identification and detection of origin of Russian products containing platinum group metals (PGM). The working agenda of the session included exchange of opinions on making up an industry data base of “risky products” and upgrading of scientific programs detecting their origin.

It is worth mentioning that criminalistics expertise carried out with the help of complex methodology of identification turned out to be evidentiary base for investigation of multiple criminal cases brought out in the Russian Federation and in many other countries. The experience of cooperation between the companies-members of PGM proves that the problem of illegal across the border trafficking of raw materials containing PGM took on international significance, whereas this modality of criminal business is one of the most attractive for international criminal syndicates. In this respect, the goal oriented activity of Norilsk Nickel, including the state-private partnership, gives a good reason to believe that we will see the end of across the border trafficking of precious metals as means of financing the international organized crime.

To finalize the session, the companies-producers re-elected unanimously for the second term a representative of Russian business Vladislav Gasumyanov, director of directorship of corporate security – head of security block of MMC Norilsk Nickel, chairman of SC MPGA.
