OREANDA-NEWS. June 03, 2014. A seminar on new technology of metallurgical energy conservation and environmental protection was hosted by MCC Group in Beijing.

Upon invitation, representatives from nearly 60 domestic steel works and 11 design/research institutes participated in this conference and conducted communications on topics such as energy conservation, environmental protection and establishment of green steel works. This is regarded as the largest-sized technical seminar of the industry.

In recent years, the domestic steel industry made great achievements by utilizing technologies of energy conservation and environmental protection. In comparison with the international practice, however, there is still an obvious gap in terms of the performance level of energy conservation and environmental protection. In the interest to enhance the control and management on pollutant emission by the steel industry, the Ministry of Environmental Protection promulgated the revised Emission Standard for Pollutants from Iron and Steel Industry. As per this standard, it is a compulsive requirement for steel works to comply with the more strict standards on emission limits of pollutants such as particulate, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides since the year of 2015.

As the designer and builder of Chinese steel industry, MCC Group actively organized its design/research institutes to carry out innovation on scientific technologies, and eventually developed a batch of new technical results to meet the energy conservation and environmental protection demands of the steel works. For instance, the new technologies launched by MCC Group at this seminar include smoke-gas treatment, sewage treatment, sintering process and environmental-friendly raw materials yard, almost covering the whole process of steel-making industry, with the same or even the higher technical level of the international practice. The promotion and application of these technical results have not only brought about perfect economic and social benefits for the steel works, but also provided firm technical support and service guarantee for the upgrading and transformation of Chinese steel industry, and thus been placed with a high premium by the industrial insiders.

President Guo Wenqing was present at the seminar. According to Guo, MCC Group determines to: (i) focus on the development of core business; (ii) stand at the height of the international advanced level and the development of the overall metallurgical industry; (iii) utilize the leading core technologies, the continuous innovation capability and the irreplaceable advantages of the integrated metallurgical industry chain; (iv) continue to maintain the leading position as the worldwide largest metallurgical engineering contractor and the service provider for operation of metallurgical enterprises; and (v) undertake the national responsibility and lead the Chinese metallurgical industry to develop towards a higher level.

At this seminar, MCC Group launched over 60 new technologies, new results and applicable examples. The 11 subsidiaries of MCC Group, including MCC Group Central Research Institute of Building & Construction (CRIBC), Beijing Central Research & Design Institute for Metallurgical Equipment of MCC (BRIME), China Nonferrous Engineering and Research Institute (ENFI), Capital Engineering & Research Incorporation Limited (CERI), CISDI Engineering Co., Ltd. (CISDI), WISDRI Engineering & Research Incorporation Ltd. (WISDRI), BERIS Engineering & Research Corp. (BERIS), Huatian Engineering & Technology Corporation of MCC (HTC), ACRE Coking & Refractory Engineering Consulting Corporation of MCC (ACRE), MCC Northern Engineering & Technology Corporation (NETC) and Changtian International Engineering Corporation of MCC (CIE), made briefings on their technical results and successful examples. More than 200 representatives from the relevant associations, enterprises, design institutes, local governments and news agencies were present at the conference. The participants conducted discussion and communication on the new technologies of energy conservation and environmental protection. In line with the various business demand, the representatives also undertook view-exchanges in different groups and achieved satisfied effect.
