OREANDA-NEWS. June 05, 2014. This is stated in the updated WB Food Price Watch. In that period, the wheat prices decreased 13% in Tajikistan, 12% in Russia, 10% in Salvador and 9% in Armenia. They grew most in Sudan (72%), Argentina (70%), Belarus (57%), Ethiopia (35%) and Uruguay (34%).

 In the period between January 2014 and April 2014, Moldova was the 6th major country by the pace of growth in domestic wheat prices, which was equal to 9%. In the reporting period, the fastest growth was reported by Ukraine and made up 37%. Then followed Ethiopia (+24%), Sudan (+19%), Kyrgyzstan (+15%) and Russia (+11%). Within January –April 2014, the wheat prices decreased 38% in Argentina, 8% in Pakistan, 6% in Bolivia and 2% in Tajikistan. It should be noted, the grain crop was good last year.

The production of crops and leguminous plants increased 2.2 times to 2 million 660 thousand tons, NBS said to InfoMarket. The bulk yield of wheat doubled to 1 million 007 thousand tons. In 2013, the wheat yielding capacity was 1.7 times as much as in 2012. According to the Agriculture Minister, about 160,000 tons of wheat gathered in 2013 are meant for export. Against the same period of 2013, in January-March, 2014 Moldova increased export of crops and foods by 2.3 times to USD46.8 million, NBS says.
